The SCRAR Scholarship committee elected to give two $300 scholarships this year. This year's recipients are Samantha Larisch, daughter of Mischa and Laura Larisch and Nicolas Farley, son of Blake and David Farley.
Samantha is attending Upper Iowa University to pursue a career in the medical field, possibly a Nurse Practitioner or Doctor. She is a certified EMT. Samantha says, "Overall I am working to be able to help others who end up in the emergency room." She completed 50 credits in her first year of college while participating in track and field. She is a graduate of Aldo Leopold High School where she maintained a 3.9 G.P.A. was a part of the Student Council and participated in the Eco monitoring, YCC and Envirothon team as well as track and cross country for Silver High School.
Nicolas Farley is attending Western New Mexico University and will be a Junior in the Fall semester. He is a graduate of Aldo Leopold High School. He has a 3.7 G.P.A and is currently on the Dean's List. He works in the Biology Department at WNMU, is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and has accepted a position to work with Arrowhead Studio's Studio G Program, which is a business incubator program for student entrepreneurs. Nicolas states, " I would like to get more involved with research and development for new technologies derived from advanced biological systems."
Kim Clark, Association Executive presented both recipients with their checks. Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student as a senior in high school or enrolled in a University. They must have an overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher and be an immediate family member of a REALTOR or of an Affiliate member of the Silver City Regional AOR.
